If it is such a “small world” and technology has been “bringing us all closer” …. why is shipping international freight so complicated? WE DON’T BELIEVE IT IS AND WE CAN PROVE IT!
At Mainfreight – we are driven to make global transportation a simple process. We make our team and our resources YOUR shipping department. If there is a hiccup, our teams will communicate quickly and often, identify the root cause, present corrective actions and MAKE IT RIGHT. Think about that – do you really have a proactive partner now? Are you tracking shipments? Are your clients asking for shipment information? It’s not that hard to get it right and we can show you how.
How does all this work?
We operate from the local branch and our teams understand the local process. You get 214 branch locations in 160 cities and 70 countries...we do things a little bit differently here. In fact, it’s not even really about how many branch locations we have because the truth is that our people in the branch make the difference. We will be easy to do business with, we have a passion for process and our teams are highly trained to make your experience special.
What is in it for you?
A network that covers all of the major cities in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East. We have integrated our ground transport, line haul, airfreight, ocean freight, customs clearance, distribution, logistics and warehousing. This is YOUR advantage – the entire process managed by local teams on a single company platform, supported by a single global database. We are a team of experienced professionals delivering world class service.
We all use the same planes to and from the same airports right? NOT EVEN CLOSE…. Mainfreight gives you choices – carriers, service levels and pricing. The value is easy to see on your bottom line. We place the focus of our business on YOUR business, your clients, your suppliers and your supply chain. We know airfreight is bloody expensive and you wouldn’t use it if you had it your way. We also know how to manage the process, lower your costs, give you visibility and put you in control of the shipment. Now you’re probably wondering how we do all of this? Does it really matter who handles your ocean cargo? It's all the same containers, on the same vessels on the same routes, to and from the same ports…. so what is the big deal? We load our own boxes and deconsolidate them in our own facilities. Mainfreight teams handle the cargo from start to final delivery – and fewer “hand-offs” means fewer fumbles. Control and consistency – they are your advantage with the Mainfreight Group.
We have the volume to deliver LOWER PRICING and the size to deliver PERSONAL SERVICE. That’s the big deal.
Dangerous Goods (DG)
Don’t even think about sending any dangerous goods/hazardous material with ANYONE without the experience and certification to get it done right. You might be asking yourself: ‘Why Do I Need to Use a Specialized Carrier?’ Look, this stuff is dangerous and things can get really nasty, quickly. Our teams are certified for air, ocean and ground transport, handling and storage. Let’s not get tricky here….. we are the experts – you are NOT. Contact your local branch manager and we can help create an easy way for you to comply with regulations, manage documentation and ship your dangerous goods safely and at the right price.
You need a license, the tests are hard, the manual thick, and getting it wrong can get your import privileges revoked. Need a few more reasons why you want the Mainfreight Customs Broker team on your side?
Mainfreight Customs Brokerage delivers the perfect balance of compliance management, licensed expertise and electronic solutions. We provide real-time customs release status for instant visibility on your entry and release which adds true value to your supply chain. Our systems are designed to support your import compliance and import management process, while giving you real-time visibility to the entry and release process. How’s that for value?
Mainfreight Automotive is dedicated to importing and exporting all types of vehicles and parts. We know that consumers today are looking to purchase that ‘special’ item like the vintage Bentley classic, Harley, or antique boat. These pieces are difficult to find and even harder to transport safely. While finding one’s dream ‘toy’ may be half the battle, shipping it overseas is typically the other half – that is where Mainfreight Automotive comes in. We manage the process from purchase, to export clearance, prep and packing for shipment to unload and FINAL DELIVERY!
No, not all international shipments require the payment of duties. Whether or not an international shipment would require a payment of duties would be determined by the commodity that is being shipped, and the harmonized tariff/Schedule B number that coincides with the product. Once this is established, who pays the duty is determined by the shipping terms.
Being that every shipment is unique in its own way, it is best to contact your Mainfreight Sales Representative in order to determine what the costs would be for moving your shipment.

"Good Morning and Happy Friday at that! Vicki, Annette and I have talked about our export process and we do not have any issues with Mainfreight. We know you guys are working very hard to provide the best possible service. The main issue for our customers is getting their documents as soon as possible. I know you have been doing your best and we appreciate all the efforts of Michelle, Lori and Beth. You have a very nice group of ladies at your DFW office. Your interest and concern is really appreciated. I think all of us will continue to improve as we move forward. Feel free to share with your group as needed. We would give them all a big pat on the back and job well done!" -Barb
